In lieu of Endangered Species Day on Friday, this week’s Wetland Wednesday focuses on:
Did you know:
More than 1/3 of endangered species rely directly, or indirectly, on wetlands for survival.
Abundantly species-rich, wetlands are a complex fragile ecosystem. Endangered species, like many others, are reliant on the protection of wetlands. Populations decrease due to destruction of wetland habitats. Wetland protection and restoration is critical to aid in potential population growth of endangered species for the future. The Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act understands the importance of all flora and fauna to the wetland ecosystem and is working to replenish land, vegetation, and proper water quality to ensure the health of wetlands and its inhabitants.
